Yes, you read it right.

After years of playing 40K and playing marines (the heroes in my eyes) with a side trip (two or three games) down other paths, I'm going to play a second race in another game. Follow me down this rogue path...

Captain's Log... Team Photo...

I finished my first season of Blood Bowl with a record of 3-8-1... no playoffs for me in our league. I wasn't surprised but still hoped that I might have beaten out a couple of the other teams with similar records. Season Five for the Richmond area starts after the holidays and a tournament is in Norfolk in January run by another group. 2013 is looking good for moar blood on the pitch!

Captain's Log... All is not lost...

All is not lost for those of you that have followed my blog. No sea monster has eaten me, no sickness has taken me to other realities, nor have I lost my way to my blog.

I've been busy doing what we do... hobby stuff. 40K 6th Edition is in the throngs of newness and the new Chaos Codex has traitorous hearts all a flutter. All is as it should be and is well and truly good for the hobby.

I have been playing Bloodbowl in the 4th season of the local stores league. I have been playing at least once a week and the rest of my 'hobby time' has been to paint my team and build a pitch for the game. I have also been writing a few 'news' bulletins on the local forum for fun. I hope they are funny and amusing.

I am close to finishing my team and will post some pictures of the team standing on the field I built because they look really good with that as the background.

After the break you can find the nine news bulletins which may or may not tell you how the team is doing this season. My record is 3 - 3 in league play and it doesn't look like I will make it to the palyoffs this season but... things change and never count a dwarven bloodbowl player down till he is in the 'red' box.

Captain's Log... Team Expansion...

I have been busy with my league match (a loss) and painting. The pitch from last post earned me extra gold for upgrades and such.

I have this theme going on with the league that instead of my 'fictitious' team being injured it is their off-pitch activities that cause them to miss games. I was a man down last game, used the rules for a substitute, and then promptly bought him so I have an extra guy on the team. So when I write that I am going for a layer I really mean an apothecary.

Instead of explaining a lot of 'stuff' I just post some pictures...

I have been working on a custom pitch and stuff for Blood Bowl. It nets me more 'gold' in our league and promotes the game.

Captain's Log... Lost...

Oh how I am bogged down... and lost in a corner.

6th Edition has rolled out the 'What do I do now carpet?' and I have to get back into throwing a monkey wrench into things.

I suppose I could start off with my opinion of 6th edition after one week of the game being 'live' to the general public but there are so many opinions out there now, mine is just a little fish in a big pond. I'll give it to you at the end where it will mean even less.

At some point there will be an alternate warlord table in a new codex.

How do I know? Page 111, first column under Warlord Traits. Since no known codex has a 'warlord table'...

I am a lucky man to get a 'man-cation' on father's day weekend and that the local store was running a 40K tournament. I just have one word (for the moment)... Woohoo!

So for what it's worth I will give you a rundown of the day...

Captain's Log... Shameless...

While we all wait for the dawn of a new age of 40K known as '6th Edition', I have been busy doing another aspect of our hobby. Writing... or at least a form of it.

Captain's Log... Pictures?...

Pictures or it didn't happen. How many times have we heard that? Could this be a 'meme' of our hobby? The banner is a new addition to FTW Games and presented to Rob Baer on the 2nd Anniversary of the opening of his shop. I salute him and the good work the shop does!

I went to the 'Iron Man' yesterday and stayed late into the night. I had fun, so lets get on with some commentary and some pictures that turned out.

Captain's Log... Draw-hammer...

The last game of the evening ended in the yee old 'drawhammer' with a twist. The cute 'your HQ is caring the objective', kill them to get the objective to stop moving, and the only way to 'win' is by controlling both objectives. 

The game was a tie of course, thus the picture...

I will be in the corner putting the fun list back on the shelf and working a new list for the 16th while I paint terminators.

Need I say more... the black horde of Imperial Guard seized the initiative and ruined my day on kill points. Seven kill point to one... transports, always with the transports...

First game at FTW's 'Iron Man"... Draw against a Black Templar player. It went five turns and ran down to the last assault phase where I had to re-roll the winning penetration roll versus a venerable dred. Drat!

I wouldn't call Rob Baer my friend or anything. We don't hang out, I know little of his life beyond the local store but wargamers form bonds none the less. There is nothing like walking into the local store, or any game store for that matter, and being at home.  I'm really just a customer doing what I can, when I can, but you get the idea.

All over the net and our hobby are the pictures, rules, and commentary for the new models coming to a retail outlet near you... unless you are a Black Templar, Dark Angel, Grey Knight, Space Wolf, or Blood Angel.

A long time ago someone told me that when something 'bad' happens you get 24 hours to complain, disagree, beach, or otherwise and then you get your posterior in gear and get over it.

Yes everyone, the incredible husk is one more year older. I will be having birthday dinner at the Longhorn Steak House in Nashville for the second year in a row... since I am out of town for work... again!

Not to fear! Momma has a cake waiting for me when I get home and she made sure I had cake before I left!

I'm so lucky to have her around putting up with my shtick! :P

Happy Mothers Day!

I know that somewhere out there in the deepest, darkest, cleanest corner of the internet there is a place where some mom plays 40K! Happy Mothers Day! We'll try to be quiet for two minutes... maybe!

I'd post some dribble that many of you could read in two minutes but I got nothing! I'm working on some terminators while I am out of town for work and that is about it. I'm also struggling with a list out of the marine codex. The Space Wolf codex really had me spoiled. What you going to do!?

Adepticon has filled my evenings in front of the picter thingy for so long I now have no clear purpose.

Leading up to the 'con' I had a clear plan of build, test, paint, and generally prepare in no particular order other then to have my 'guys' painted. I wasn't going to win any awards but it would be painted better then some!

My thoughts on my first Adepticon or GT for that matter are that the people are great and well organized. Even when I was getting my ass handed to me. I went 1 - 2 - 1 for the weekend in the champion event my opponent was not 'that guy'. My goal was to win one and I almost won two but will not dwell on that experience which I have lightly commented upon in another blog. It's not positive for me nor the hobby.

It went quick. Two hours and fifteen minutes is plenty of time for games but you have to know what you are doing. My phrase for the event is 'The Quick and the Dead". Those that made it to the final rounds were the quick while the rest of us were the dead... or drunk by Saturday night!

I would like to thank Casey Christopher for asking me to be his partner in the Team Tournament at FTW Games in Richmond, VA. I wasn't going to go and then at the last minute I ran into him and he needed a partner... the rest is as they say... history.

Captain's Log... Sunday, Sunday, Sunday...

While typical sports fans may be watching NCAA March Madness (VCU is out soooo...) or NASCAR I'm doing what 'we' do best... play with toy soldiers.

I do enjoy football and am following where Peyton Manning is going to sign. I really hope, along with my wife, that he doesn't pull a 'Farve' by bouncing around to differing teams at less then 100% till he knows he can't perform at an 'elite' level. I'm rooting for him to be healthy and to sign with the Bronco's so Tebow can learn under him and play an even better game when Manning retires officially. I wouldn't mind the Titan's either just to see if Manning can turn an average team into something better. Just musing though...

Captain's Log... Comparison...

Back from being out of town for work but a project I was starting didn't make it past the test model. I'm building some 'guys' for a forum I belong to and the 'hand' and arm bitz aren't working out like I visualized... more of that later though.

Today I took some shots of an old Rogue Trader 'Beakie' Missile Launcher and the new Forge World retro-grade side by side to show a bit of comparison.

Yep, I got a few.

The unit this week is anther devistator squad with parts ordered from Forge World. I originally had a 'sergeant' with a 'halberd' type of weapon but built a couple of guys so the only 'halberds' in my list are actually power weapons.

I managed to work on my landspeeder and a 'chooser of the slain' marker but for some reason I can't get the lighting correct tonight. I'm not happy with the pictures but wanted to update just to do something and relax.

Unweldy, quarky, and it's just so fantastic!

In my continuing efforts to get ready for April I have completed another squad of beakies but this time it is the old RTB Missle Launchers and a metal sergeant who was one of the first models I painted.

I'm hoping that this week I will have another sqaud finsished, some more progress on the display board, and some work on my speeder.

The down and dirty is that I got my [insert expletive] handed to me yet again. Losing is suppose to build character but when you are losing two of every three games it gets a little, teansy, weansy, itty, bitty... old.
